Graphic Design & Visual Work

While my primary focus is public relations and media, I’ve always enjoyed the creative and visual side of storytelling. I explored graphic design through coursework at Indiana University, where I learned the fundamentals of composition, typography, visual hierarchy, branding, and designing with an audience in mind.

This section features some of the work I created throughout that experience. I’m still growing my design skills, but the class gave me a genuine interest in visual communication and a desire to keep experimenting with design alongside my work in PR and media.

Newspaper Front Page

Designed a newspaper front page with a focus on editorial hierarchy, typography, and creating a layout that guides readers through multiple stories. This project challenged me to think about how visual choices can influence what audiences notice first.

Made with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Canva.

Magazine Spread

Created a six-page magazine spread focused on balancing photography, typography, and written content. I experimented with layout and visual hierarchy to create a design that felt cohesive while still giving each element room to stand out.

Made with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Canva.

Movie Poster

Designed a promotional movie poster with the goal of communicating the tone and identity of the film through imagery, typography, and composition. I focused on creating a visual that could capture attention while still feeling connected to the movie’s overall aesthetic.

Made with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

This course gave me the opportunity to explore the visual side of communication and showed me how much design can influence the way an audience experiences information. While my primary focus is PR and media, I’ve really enjoyed developing this creative skill and hope to continue incorporating more visual work into my future projects.
